Lean Lifts: All or Nothing or always something?

Lean Lifts: All or Nothing or always something?

My clients are always busy Reader. And so this is something that helps them get through the busy periods. Whenever you get busy in life and use it as an excuse to stop training, this is for you.

Turn the dial down, or up, depending...

The thing about being busy is that it assumes that for you to be fit and healthy in the future you'll have to not be busy.

And when are you ever not busy?

If you start now when you're busy, it means that you'll be fine during the times in your life when you're not busy.

And you'll also be fine when you're busy.

It doesn't mean that you can stop every time you're busy.

If, like my clients, you want to be fit and healthy for the rest of your life, then you'll have to learn how to be healthy during busy and not-so-busy times.

Instead of this on/off routine, use dials instead.

Dials mean that when life gets busy you don't suddenly switch off, but rather adjust the intensity at which you focus your health on.

Here's what that dial might look like:

  • 5/5 - Nail your planned gym workout
  • 4/5 - Nail a random gym workout
  • 3/5 - Complete a home bodyweight workout
  • 2/5 - Follow a YouTube 10 min mobility flow
  • 1/5 - Park further away from the office and take the stairs instead of the elevator.

So here's a bit of homework for you:

Go through the following areas of your health. Training, Diet, Mindset and lifestyle and create a 1-5 checklist for each one like the above. What does a 1 look like for each one? And are they sustainable as the bare minimum? If not, what needs to change to make them so?

I've also been doing this stretch a lot recently and my clients have been loving it. Try this at home or at the gym if your body feels a little stiff and tight and you want a deep stretch to open yourself up. Fair warning though, you'll feel super loosey-goosey afterwards.
